The first organic liquid soil conditioner that helps you grow any crop when the weather is dry or water is scarce or when you simply want to reduce the amount of water you use on your farm!

At Water Retainer LLC we are on a mission to save U.S. farms affected by drought conditions.

As of March 19, 2024, 30 million people are affected by drought in 48 states in the U.S., according to the US Drought Monitor (Drought.gov). 145.8 million acres of major crops in the U.S. are already experiencing drought conditions.

Cotton farmers in Texas are particularly affected. About 40% of the U.S. crop is produced in Texas, and farmers are facing a severe drought – nearly the entire state — 95% — faces drought conditions, that is costing the industry billions of dollars (CNBC). A lack of rain and extreme heat is forcing growers in the state to abandon almost 70% of the cotton acres they planted in 2023 – nearly 6 million acres – according to a forecast by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Water Retainer is a unique organic liquid soil conditioner, which addresses drought by reducing water evaporation when applied to soil.

Water Retainer has been patented in the US by Water and Soil Limited and successfully tested by Prof. Girish K. Panicker, Ph.D., FMAS, Professor of Plant and Soil Sciences & Director of Conservation Research at the Center for Conservation Research (CRCCR) and the School of Agriculture and Applied Science, Alcorn State University (MS).

Water retainer is already sold to farmers in Peru, Morocco, Tunisia, Kenya, Pakistan, Greece, Albania, and Ghana, and with several other countries obtaining approval from Government regulatory authorities for more orders, Water Retainer sales are expected to increase in 2024.

One thing is clear. Drought is going nowhere. Innovative ways of dealing with drought by increasing soil moisture and reducing water evaporation with Water Retainer will go a long way to keep the cotton and food industry from evaporating. The benefits to energy conservation are replete. By applying water retainer, less
water is used in irrigation, thereby saving the nation, billions of dollars used on high-cost power plants used on irrigation farms. This way, we save water and energy so that states can offer these vital amenities to the people who need it most – while making it possible for farmers to produce more food at a lower cost for an ever-increasing population.

Climate Change Solution

Our team of researchers has completed a decade-old project to develop a solution to substantially reduce drought damage, which is a problem for a wide range of farmers, without requiring irrigation investment. Introducing Water Retainer,  an innovative soil conditioner that addresses drought issues for farmers and significantly reduces water use in both rain-fed farming and irrigation.
